Philosophy

The B.Ed. Degree Programmes in Adult Education and Primary Education Studies are designed to give reality to the philosophy that the teacher, as key in the educational enterprise, must be mentally, physically, emotionally prepared for the expected role. The objective of the degree programmes is therefore to equip the beneficiaries with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to function effectively and efficiently in the basic school as well as adult and non-formal sub-sectors of Nigerian education. Professional training in teacher education is therefore combined with practical experience in early childhood, primary, adult and non-formal settings to foster the acquisition of appropriate knowledge in specific Arts, Social Science, or Science subjects thoughout the duration of the programme. Excellence in skills and professional competence are promoted in all components of the programmes.
